In my opinion it’s not the greatest. It’s slightly better than one in my third gen (which I never used) but this one doesn’t charge as well either. I pulled the fuse and turned it off, since there isn’t an actually off button like in the third gen. Now I can use it to my phones without it charging. Truck had the four charging cables and the usb-c ports charge great. Nothing beats a direct connection.

I’ve had people say it most be the cases I use and it’s too thick. To that I reply, I don’t use cases on either of my phones. So that’s not it.
awesome idea, saving this for if my truck ever becomes reality lol

Sad to see this hasn't improved. Our Qi charger in our '21 Rav4Prime also doesn't work, or rather works just as everyone is seeing here, with Iphone 14's which are on the compatible list. I dropped my iphone on a 2024 tacoma in the lot the other day, it started charging, but I didn't wait long enough to see it stop charging, thinking it wouldn't have the same problems.

I took delivery yesterday and from what I have seen so far, my iPhone 14 is too short and slides down the charger and stops charging. Really just needs to be moved up about an inch to make contact with the mag charger.

Has anyone made a bumper or lifter for this? Seems like someone with some time and a 3D printer could maybe solve this issue. Should I just ball up a bunch of napkins and treat it like an off-balance table at a restaurant?

Reporting back in on this to see if anyone else is having the issue.
  • Sport Premium
  • Iphone 15 Pro Max (94% battery health/capacity)
  • Magsafe case that works no problem with other wireless chargers to include the Apple one.
  • Using wireless Carplay all the time
So it does connect when setting it in the cradle. I thought it was working no problem. The battery turns green and shows charging.

HOWEVER is actually does not charge. I use carplay. I have Sirius XM play and I have waze running in the background (not actually using turn by turn). In say 30 minutes it will actually USE 1%.

Another time I had it on the charger for a 1 hour drive. This time using Waze with turn by turn (inputting a destination) and in an hour it used 2%. Did not charge at all.

Anyone else finding this to be the case and actually not charging but showing it is on the phone and the Tacoma display?

My sport did not come with the wireless charging but I did end up adding my own. Picked up two MagSafe chargers from amazon and fit them into the space where the wireless charger would be. Now my wife and I can both charge our phones while we drive, and since they are the MagSafe ones, we don't have to worry about our phones sliding or bouncing around. $20 well spent in my opinion.

Link to where you got it. Any modifications to get it to fit or it just works? I like the wireless carplay but when using waze it drains the battery and need it to actually charge.
