Appreciate it bro. Yeah I can't see it getting any better. My local dealer said they had already replaced a transmission and engine on a couple other 24 tacomas. Also I believe he mentioned that more have been dropped off since mine.

Currently seeing if I can get the truck exchanged because I feel like this is just gonna be placing a bandaid on the overall issue. They're currently reviewing that and stated that I have to wait 45 days for Toyota to review if they'll accept the exchange
They wouldn’t exchange mine. I got a new transmission in mine now. Currently no issues. However exchanging might have the same issue. I just saw a trd pro needing a new trans. I feel like even tho people have had no issues currently, these transmissions aren’t going to to last and they’ll eventually have a problem. But who knows. I was hella pissed and I know how you’re feeling.

Yeah I'm not too hopeful on the exchange but I figured I'd give it a shot cause I can't see me getting the replacement transmission anytime remotely soon. My guess is there'll be a recall on them at some point. But stoked yours is back to you and going well! Hope that continues to be the case for you

I just watched a video about the shocks blowing through the top hat of suspension bc now there’s no external bump stops. Seen that 3 times now. These trucks man. They kinda junk tbh. I love mine but lord

I saw a video on that too. Guess it's the risk we took buying the first year of a new generation of tacomas. Hopefully we won't have to deal with too many more issues.

The only bright side of so many failed transmissions is that Toyota will have to address this and soon. It makes me wonder if we are heading toward a stop sales situation until they can figure this out.

I was hoping that we might have already heard something from them about the failed torque converters which seem to have been the cause of some failures.

Come on Toyota. Figure this out and let us know wtf is going on. My truck is built but not shipped yet. I know I will wonder about it from day one until Toyota tells us more about why this is happening.

Well, I thought the TC was identified as the issue.

Oh yours is being built. I see you in the forums here and there. What’d you end up going with. Hybrid?

One thing that does scare me. Is if this system for the shocks is faulty. Which it looks to be not the ideal setup. Now when I put on 35’s and wheels and put a spacer lift on. Then this thing explodes and I lose my shocks somehow. I know damn well they gona blame it on the modifications mentioned above and imma have to eat that. They could def make a case where the tires and the lift etc impacted the suspension abd that’s why it failed. I’m scared to do the exact things like mods and off road that I bought the truck for in the first place.

It was in at least one case, but it would be nice if Toyota would share that with us all. I believe that came from @SonoranSurvivalist and maybe directly from Toyota.

That could be the problem in all of them but until they tell us more we are all just guessing. I know Toyota will sort this out but some transparency would go a long way toward calming the waters.

I’m a bit over 10k miles in around 4 months. This thread doesn’t make me feel great about not having a warranty soon. Lol

Excellent point. People have bought Tacos for a long time as a base for building out exactly what they want. You always took a chance with a lift because that is a smoking gun for some drivetrain failures. But if you can't feel safe modding a Taco they lose a lot of appeal.

At that rate, your powertrain warranty would be gone in two years. Ouch!

Yeah I mean honestly they are really embarrassing themselves lately, they need to get their act together and quick . The world is watching this
