How do you like your GFC? I was considering that too. I like the openness of windows with a topper. I had a smartcap on my Ranger and liked that, but have heard issues with it on the Tacoma, especially with the rubber seal.

Ok. I have the Kuat Ibex system installed on my truck bed. However, I’m thinking of making it into a topper with the full panel kit. Has anyone does this yet? If so, how has it been from a functional stand point for you?

Have you weighed your set up? I bet you’re over payload and even axle weight.

With many years of experience towing various size campers with different size tow vehicles the limiting factor is always payload capacity of the vehicle. My best guess is the OP has exceeded his payload capacity. The scales don’t lie. Weigh your setup before making any changes.

My wife and I are on a 2 week road trip to the mountains with the Bean.

It’s not going to matter what you’re setup is if your over payload capacity of the tow vehicle and/or the trailer. It puts undue stress on the vehicle and possibly puts your life and the life of others at risk. Weight does matter.

Have you weighed your setup yet? Truck and trailer together and separatly, loaded like you’re on a trip with a full tank of gas. What is your tongue weight on that trailer? Have you exceeded the payload of your truck? No matter what you do to your truck you still need to be within specs of that...

My climate control settings work so well I have not had to use the AC. I tried it once and it was too cold for me. Of course I do prefer open sunroof and windows as I prefer the heat. Sounds like a warranty repair to me.

In the instructors and specs Kuat states the rails and T nuts may not be compatible with the long bed Retrax Fortunately, I have the short bed, so it worked for me. You would think that all they would have to do is supply different Tnuts.

I wanted to follow up with how the airbags installed on my Tacoma have helped eliminate the sag and produce a better towing experience. I also minimized some weight and shifted a few items. However, I only eliminated 20lbs off my previous tongue weight. My Bean is front heavy due to the box...

Ha! Never mind. I figured it out. I just need to look at the directions better. I’ll post pics once completed. Thank you!

Did you ever find a solution. I have the TRD OF short bed with a Retrax Pro XR. I went to put the T nuts into the slots and I don’t think they fit.

I don’t think that was an issue on my install. Here’s a couple pics installed on mine.

I just had the Airlift kit installed on my TRD OF. Riding around town with the minimum 5psi I cannot tell I even have them. I will be towing this week, so I will update with an updated photo of before and after.

I ride a Scott Spark, full carbon, Scram e-tap, Reserve full carbon wheelset with I9 hubs.
