I know it's not apples to apples, but I am trying to decide between a new G80 M3 or a TRD PRO 4runner. Since you have both, which one would you keep if you could only choose one? No kids, and only mild off roading.
If you want to do mild off roading then the TRDPro. With it, it can take you to places that the G80 can’t. But If I have to choose one or the other, it would be the g80. Not a fair comparison as it’s a 115k msrp car fully loaded with better tech, performance, and luxury quality. The TRDpro is very solid and I like it better than a jeep, bronco, passport or a raptor etc.

Makes sense. And I agree with better than the other off roaders (especially after driving a bronco and ranger raptor). Thanks!

wrap it asap, ice cap 040 paint is butter
So is the black. I can't believe how soft it is. It just picks up scratches when you look at it. Getting mine totally wrapped in about 2 weeks. Can't wait.

040 is literally the same paint currently in recall. idk how toyota is getting away with this BS.
I’m not paying 10% of the price of the car for a wrap. I’ll try to diy the front metal pieces with ppf

Oh! That color is being recalled or that type of paint is, which is the base? Do you have an article you can share?

You'd think they fixed it but there's plenty of posts on https://www.tacoma4g.com/ of people complaining about their 2024'

I literally stopped driving mine until I find a solution, either sell it or diy wrap it
Crazy… It’s not fantastic spending $70k on a vehicle, just to have the paint shit.

Thank you for the info. I’m doing a full front PPF and ceramic coating the rest.

I really hope and praying they addressed this issue on the 4r. Going to give them the benefit of the doubt that this is made in Japan. So we’ll see how it’ll be in the next few months. If it’s peeling like those in the service bulletins, I’m giving them back the car!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost and what did you have done where?
Around 69k-ish. I added side storage light, lift gate light, cargo mat, front and rear overlays in bronze, and integrated dashcam.

Sorry, I meant the ppf and ceramic.
Oh sorry, full front PPF, PPF on all the glossed black parts, driver & passenger front window tint, and ceramic coating comes out to 2.6k before tax. 10 year ceramic and Stek PPF with ceramic on top as well.

Hi all, creating this thread to share my thoughts, questions, reviews, and the build.

Extremely happy that I got to pick up the 4R yesterday. Not gonna lie—after it landed at port on 3/3 and got delayed for almost a month, I was starting to lose interest. I was also a bit anxious, since this will be my first Toyota and my first overlanding vehicle. Coming from owning a 2022 BMW X3M Comp, and currently having an E46 M3 and a 2023 G80 M3 in the garage, I knew I’d be comparing power, build quality, etc.

But man, seeing the 4R at the dealership and driving it home for roughly 35 miles—this truck is an amazing vehicle. It might not have the power of my sports cars, but there’s enough power for what it is. The build quality is honestly impressive, and I love how sporty and tight the cockpit feels. On the way home, it was getting a lot of attention and thumbs up—definitely has road presence.

Advice for new and upcoming owners:
Make sure to tell your dealership not to wash the vehicle and to leave the protective covers on. Otherwise, they may end up damaging the paint.

For now, I’ll be giving it its first wash and decontamination. Then it’ll be heading out for full front PPF, including the gloss black parts. After that, the mods will start going on.

Please enjoy some crappy iPhone pics, and let me know if you guys have any questions.

Hi Takumi07,

I have the same TRD Pro, minus the cargo mat. The first mat I ordered post delivery was the not correct part number. Does your cargo mat have a part number listed on the bottom side that you could share?

Thanks.
Dan

The truck is currently away for PPF but I was able to dig this out of my recycle bin.

Cargo tray part number is : PT908-89256-02 and it’s only for 4rs without a third row.
