Itās nice to see trucks doing truck things. I donāt have a 4th gen yet as none have made it to Alaska, but theyāre on their way.
It is tempting to wait for the 2025 just so I can say my first one lasted 40 years. My ā85 is my daily driver and I will haul anything I can stuff in the bed. (The...
Iām laughing about this because my wife did something worse. A couple weeks after getting a new car she finally came to me and said the locks didnāt work.
It was the first vehicle she owned with Smart locks that touching the handle, unlocked the car. After 20 years of hitting the lock button on...
Thatās the one feature I wish Toyota skipped. I saw a YouTube sales demo and it wouldnāt work because it appeared frozen. That could be an issue for a guy who lives in Alaska. š«¤
I think that power tailgate thing is a goofy gimmick. Itās too bad it comes along with the upgrade package.
I saw one YouTuber trying to demonstrate it in the snow, and it wouldnāt even work because it was frozen or jammed by just a little snow.
This was a solution in search of a problem...
Literally the exact version I want. Unfortunately, my dealerās allocations are almost all 5ā beds. (And no trucks in Bronze Oxide)
If Toyota would grant me a wish, my dream version would be an Xtracab TRD off-road premium in Bronze Oxide. I could live with a DC, but will have to reconfigure...
Iām disappointed that Toyota doesnāt offer the Xtracab in Off Road or Sport trim. (Like they used to do)
I want a 2 door but want the nicer options of the higher trims. š«¤
And for guys like me....I just drive a Toyota Pickup. Mine predates the first Tacoma by 10 years. Almost 300,000 miles on the stock 22RE engine and still going strong. 4WD Xtracb with 5 speed manual transmission.
I understand that trucks are expensive these days. Itās the additional dealer markup that is 100% bullsh*t.
I wonāt pay it ever. MSRP is the absolute ceiling for me. I will leave Toyota after 38 years of driving them before I hand over five grand to pure greed. š”
I would say just do it. I drive a 1985 Toyota with a shell on the back. When I was a younger, I had a bed/storage unit in the back as well.
It made a great overland rig. Iām still driving the truck today, with the canopy. (I no longer have the extra stuff built in)
With two people and a build...
As many others have mentioned, it all depends on what you do, and where you live. Iām not sure why they sell two wheel drive trucks in Alaska where I live. They are just this side of useless, and sometimes a complete menace in the winter.
Same engine in the hybrid. It just has a second electric motor married to the transmission. So your money is paying for the extra motor plus a good sized battery under the rear seat. š
If anyone gets info on MSRP sellers, make sure the offer stands for out of state buyers. I have already encountered dealerships that only offer MSRP to local customers. I live in Alaska where Kendall has a monopoly in the state. You can guess how that works out for the buyer.
I have zero...
Itās amazing how many people are not aware of this. And that includes many of the Youtubers making videos. They all act like you can sit at your computer and build a truck. You absolutely cannot.
Only time will tell. My daily driver is a 1985 with a 4 cylinder 22RE engine. It is still running like clockwork after 300,000 miles and 38 years.
In the interim, I did buy a 4Runner with a V6 engine in it that lasted About 25 years and 160,000 miles.
In my case, the four-cylinder turned out...
I understand that Toyota produces what they can sell in mass, and for guys who prefer a 6' bed, options get fewer. I would love an Xtracab in a higher trim level. Either a sport, off road, or limited. Unfortunately, the only way I can get a 4WD Xtracab truck is the SR5 trim with leaf springs...
First off, I realize you can't actually build a Tacoma. You can merely configure your desired truck, and then see how close a dealer can match that from their allocations. However, that doesn't excuse the build page from being among the lamest in the industry. The photos don't match the...
Not everyone lives in an area which has lots of dealers. In Alaska we have two dealers (in an area 2/5 the size of the lower 48 states) and both are owned by Kendall. Can you say monopoly?
I contacted two dealers in Seattle which is about a 1700 mile drive and they will sell at MSRP to...
