Jason from ARK is awesome! I’ve been working with him on fitment for the Trailhunter.
The mounting holes for the current set of mud flaps they sell on their site do not all align with the Trailhunter/Pro. It is close, but not perfect.
Here are the mockups ARK sent on my Trailhunter.
...I'm going to lose a lot of points in a car show. However, I'd rather have a shit DIY PPF job than a sandblasted truck.
I got the mud flaps from ARK. Other people said that worked. Not much improvement IMO. Not sure if it's a tire issue throwing rocks, or just a shit design with shit paint...
While I like the tire width coverage of the Arks, they look a little long for me. I reached out and connected with Jason at Ark and he sounds open to developing a shorter version of the full mud flaps that would split the difference between the full flaps and the micros. Thinking about 4" drop...
Good comparison pictures. The OEM flaps looks like Toyota went to the parts bin and grabbed some made for a Prus - total fail.
I am getting those or maybe Rally Armor ones soon. They have to be a big help for the rock chip problem.
Now y'all have done it, I went with the ARK mudflaps. I've attached pictures with the skinny stock flaps below the ARK flaps, and a side profile to show how much they stick out past the tires. Fingers crossed this helps.
Cool - the ARK brand look good too - thanks @Vidman and @StreeTaco . Both of those actually cover the tires and fit well with the flairs on the TH and Pro.
I put my rock sliders on today and when you look at the OEM flaps from the back they look like a joke - more like something from a Prius...
Yeah, I saw that too.. I have the crash pads still in place and the ARK flaps mounted. One of the flap bolts attaches to the pad. I left them in place. I do rub on the flap in reverse.. not really enough for me to worry about. I don’t think it would rub at all on the pad only without the flap...
I installed the Ark mudflaps on my Trailhunter and seem to do a good job at covering the tires. Haven’t had a chance to do any serious off roading yet but they are certainly much better than the stock ones
I see - yeah the flap is hiding about an inch? It looks good though and any fling should get caught by the new flaps - are you experiencing rock chips up in front of the rear fender / on the rear fender
