I'd just say take a deep breath for now. If it's a rear main seal, it's not the end of the world for you by any means, and it's largely going to be a problem for them because of the labor. Something like that probably hasn't messed with the engine internals. And it may not be a blown gasket...

The Car Care Nut advocates for earlier oil change intervals due to the turbo. I'd be interested for someone to run a UOA after the engine is broken in a little to see if fuel dilution is an issue with these engines. That's something that would definitely make me opt for like a 5k mile OCI. But...

I would highly doubt it, but they seem to be making a lot more of the neutral colored Tacomas in all trims.

I had one on my 3rd gen. Definitely helped, but in the end, it made the throttle too jumpy from starts IMO, but that was not enough to not use it. The throttle input delay in that 3rd gen is crazy bad and needed it for sure. Test driving the 4th gen, I didn't get the impression it needs it...
