Timing is definitely off on this transmission shifting thing. I’ve noticed where the rpm needle goes down and about a second later is when the transmission actually shifts.

wow, we're having the same experience. I also did not notice the truck being like that at the beginning. I have about 3200 miles on it now. I also have the occasional clunk while shifting into reverse. I really hope this is a learning process for the transmission.

Did the dealer say it’s a transmission issue nationwide? I wonder how many Tacomas are seating at the dealer waiting for their transmission to be fixed or replaced. Seriously how can so many trucks have transmission issues if they did “extensive tests”?

I think I know what you're referring to. I also hear the rattling. It sounds as if the grill is vibrating and making that sound, but once it pick ups speed it goes away.
