I just have an SR5 and it has performed great offroad, and on some trails typically reserved for ATVs. Its also super comfortable on rough gravel roads, like what I thought paying for legitimate aftermarket suspension might feel like on older Tacomas. Ive never owned a 3rd gen but it blows my...
I have a double cab SR5 4x4 with all terrains that are larger than stock: Firestone Destination A/T 2 in 255/75r17 or 32.1 in diameter (stock was 30.5 and the TRD off road comes with 31.6).
My ODO now reads about 3% low now, so truck gets slightly better mpg than what the ecometer says.
I'm...
My buddy has them for his 3rd gen, they seem great, especially for the price. I was actually hoping for the same ones but they don't have them yet. Emailed rough country and no response on possible timing.
I'll probably just go Coverking so we have something before the summer adventuring starts.
I was worried about the same the thing but CoverKing specifically asks if you have ISO dynamic seats when ordering so I'm assuming they're up to date for the 2024.
Any folks with bigger tires have any MPG reports?
While in most cases, bigger heavier tires always result in worse mpg. I'm just wondering if this turbo engine that spins up at low RPM might mean larger diameter tires and (thus lower RPMs on the highway) might mean better or at least similar...
I picked up a 2024 Tacoma SR5 double cab long bed a few days ago. Just has heated seats and bed rails (no upgrade package or anything)
Weighed in at 4760 with (almost) full tank and 210lb passenger.
Curb weight: About 4550
GVWR: 6005
Payload: About 1445

These payloads on the door stickers are likely way off of actual GVWR minus curb weight. Car and Driver weighed a premium OR at about 4800 lbs (https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/tacoma) which should be one of the heaviest non-hybrid models. That would put actual payload closer to 1450.

Thanks for the in depth review so far! Just curious if you've weighed your truck by chance. Curious how much lighter an SR5 might be compared to an off-road. Maybe another reason your getting such great MPG (in addition to your driving skill of course :) )
Thanks for the info Alex, where did you see the other C&D weight for the non-premium OR?
And has anyone weighed or found the actual payload of a SR5 yet?
