For the bumper removal and replacement of the light bar I found the video from “Rave Off Road” to be very useful. For the fog light removal I just went for it since it was pretty obvious. For the installation of the fog lights I used the instructions that came with the Baja Designs. I’ve seen a...
I wanted the light bar to work individually and the highbeams separate as well. Sometimes I used my highbeams in the nearby roads at night where it’s just pitch black down the road but conditions are clear, no fog. But you are correct amber is used for when you’re trying to see through hazy...
Yes I did use the pigtails that came in the bag, it makes the install easier & cleaner. Unfortunately I used all the 3aux switches in the truck. Any other add ons will have to be ran the old school way or I might just run one wire to the cab for an Auxbeam switch panel. The harness you saw was...
Light bar options
I finally received the TRD Pro grill after a 40 day wait due to back order. I did my research while waiting and decided to go with the Heretic light bar instead of the Baja or Diode. The Baja option you need to trim some plastic of the grill in order for it to fit properly...
On my 3rd Gen tacoma I had the ARB air compressor mounted in the bed on the passenger side storage compartment. I used the expedition essentials kit and it was good up until I started getting more into overlanding. I installed a bed topper but having a compressor inside where you sleep or not...
nice setup! This looks nice and accessible while driving. I need to get me at least one of these comms. I use a handled sometimes but that thing is a hit and miss or forget to charge it.
I’m not too concern with dust since I can just blow air on to it once in a while through the visual point on top by the rear driver tire. Regarding mud usually it gets caked right behind each tire on to the chassi, it doesn’t get up there next to the spare tire. Either way installing some type...
if your mounting the single ARB under the hood by the driver side fuse box it will fit perfectly with plenty of room to spare. I originally wanted it there but it was too tight for the twin.
There were 3 options I had for mounting the ARB Twin Air Compressor on the Tacoma OR and ended up deciding on the sub frame by the spare tire. The time consuming part was extending the wire harness which I did 20ft for the battery harness and 10ft for the switch harness. This was a bit too much...
You have to remove the bumper and grill as a unit. I do have sensors but there is only 4 clips to undo which are conveniently located at the top when you first open the hood, 3 on the passenger & 1 on the driver side. There are a few videos that show you how to properly remove the bumper. I’ll...
Just go for it. It’s not hard at all, just take your time when trimming. Hardest part is figuring out how far apart you want them. Once you see them running, you won’t regret it.
Once I started adding lights I did put an assortment of fuses in the small removal circle compartment between the driver door and the dash. Perfect spot!
Was getting curious on how the 4th gen would look with raptor grill lights so I ordered some for a 3rd Gen from Seven Sparta(Amazon) and this is the outcome.
Cutting:
On the grill itself, I cut each of the 4 holes to a rectangular shape to match the size of the back rectangle shape of the led...
I like the sun visor attachment Molle panel from Tacoma lifestyle. I put my flashlight & knife on there. Just go to the website and type Molle panel. They’re not specific to the 4th gen taco but they work.
