I would put the recovery hooks between the skid and frame and use a set of 2x spacers on each side to mount the skid. So, frame > tow hooks > spacer > skid plate > bolt.
I don't know what the spacer height would be or if the length of current bolt would be sufficient. Just brainstorming here.
I also had warped rotors at 20k that wobbled when decelerating at highway speeds and Toyota resurfaced them and the vibration went away. I also changed the pads while they were in there because I do a lot of mountain driving and they were low.
If I didn’t explicitly need a truck bed then I’d lean towards a 4Runner. Day to day I don’t need the full (long) bed capability, but there are often enough times that it warranted a truck over a SUV. For reference, prior to my Tacoma, I had a 3rd gen 4Runner with 330k+ miles. That said, I love...
You're looking at around 10hp increase with any of the intakes and negligible torque. I will speak for myself when I say the main reason I purchased an intake was for increased induction sound. If you get a tune + an intake (which I have) that's when you'll see more of the benefits of the intake...
Note: I have not had this issue since I started parking on the level street post fill-up.
This is simultaneously good that I figured out the root cause & bad that something as simple as parking in the driveway can affect the truck in this way.
Toyota stock ratings (Non-hybrid; auto; non-SR): 278 hp / 317 lb-ft
Banks stock dynorun: 217hp / 254 lb-ft
Banks stock dynorun: (AVA dynamics, 3rd party): 183.5 hp / 223 lb-ft
Camtuning stock dynrorun: 267 hp / 357 lb-ft
Can someone help me understand these discrepancies in the stock dynoruns...
Replaced both front and rear pads + faced the rotors at 25k miles. This to me seems fine considering I drive mountain roads everyday & haul often. Also, I use active cruise almost everyday since I commute far. Just adding a data point..
6061 indicates an aluminum alloy, T6 is a very common temper of 6061.
Theoretically, if they're are both 6061-T6 then the material properties will be the same for either one.
What I have noticed, just based on your images, are the different designs.
The amazon design appears to copy the OEM...
I definitely will but I had just departed on a road trip and after checking all the fluid levels, oil pressure, engine/trans temps, etc. I chose to proceed. It drove great/normal even with CEL.
Thanks for sharing this! I’ll keep monitoring the situation.
I find it hard to believe Toyota would mess up a full tank on a (steep) driveway with the amount of experience they have, but who knows. That’s the only thing that is common with the two incidents.
Hi all,
My trucks thrown a P04F0 code.
The first time this happened was after filling up completely, then immediately going home and parking in my driveway, which is downhill. It then sat for two days. When I went to work, the truck stalled twice as I made my way to the freeway. Once I got to...
The chirp doesn't bother me so I'm less inclined to get this fixed. If it is an indicator of a failure mode, then sure I would get it replaced. If it's just a sub-second annoyance then I don't really want to have them pull my truck apart for this (depending on what the fix is).
