  1. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

I ordered the parts listed by Dr Tron. Unclipped the airbox. Removed the air filter. It takes some wiggling to free it from the RAI connector. Removed the RAI connector via the two bolts. Removed the rubber cover on the lower inlet port on the air box. Placed the new cover on side inlet port...
  2. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

The Trailhunter is now fully wife approved. Some more pics for the curious.
  3. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

I just ordered the parts. Thanks!
  4. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

The Tacoma was compared to a Mercedes. I found that statement to be a bit too much, so I chimed in since I have firsthand experience with the only body on frame Mercedes that is currently in production. The original statement was acknowledged to be an exaggeration. I accepted that and was ready...
  5. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

Over the years, I have owned trucks from Toyota, Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. I am not new to trucks. I also test drove a Ford and a GMC before buying the Taco. The Tacoma handles the best of that lot. It beat the others easily in the braking department. But the original statement compared to a...
  6. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

No need to start throwing ridgeline insults. I thought this was a cordial forum.
  7. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

You asked, so I will reply frankly. The acceleration isn’t always predictable. Manual shifting in Sport seems to be a suggestion at best. Steering is too light to provide sufficient road feel. Potholes sometimes result in unpredictable responses. The electronic nannies, such as LKA(now disabled)...
  8. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

My other car is a ā€˜25 MB CLE53, so the Taco feels pretty sketchy to me. I didn’t own the previous gen taco, so maybe exaggeration is makes for s worthy comparison.
  9. Second oil change at 5000 miles. More metal debris found (with pics!)

I’ve owned a few Mercedes and this truck doesn’t drive anything like a recent Mercedes and that includes the G-Wagen.
  10. Diamondback Tonneau Cover review / feedback?

I installed an SE. I didn’t bother with the shims and haven’t had any issues with water.
  11. Bed Step Question (15% off right now)

I have one of those steps stowed behind my back seat.
  12. Purpose of rear locker in 4wd only?

I drive in 2wd on the trail or in the snow until I pretty much can’t. At that point, I’ll put it in 4wd. If I get stuck due to a lack of traction in 4wd, then I’ll go to 4lo and use the locker. For example, last week we got a few inches of snow. I didn’t have any major traction issues, so 2wd...
  13. 2024 Tacomas (USA) - Sales Figures & Take Rates Data Analysis (as of 1/20/25)

My truck’s VIN returns nothing. My dealer doesn’t even show up in the list of dealers. That might explain why I was never able to track my truck prior to delivery.
  14. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

No issues other than less than expected mpgs: 16/18. I’m only just over 1k on the odometer.
  15. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

I’m not restricting air flow, the second opening allows just as much, if not more than the snorkel. I assume Toyota did this to allow people to completely blocked off the snorkel. It’s obnoxious. Unfortunately, too much air is a problem for some of the hybrids since I’m not the only one who had...
  16. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

The whole snorkel design totally revamps the air flow for this truck. Toyota quotes a 3 horsepower reduction for the Trailhunter. I installed an aftermarket airbox that greatly improved the airflow and the truck threw codes. The Trailhunter doesn’t like too much air.
  17. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

I’m still here. I have the air gap between the airbox and the snorkel inlet. The Trailhunter has an optional airbox inlet which is the same size as the snorkel inlet, so my engine isn’t starved for air. I’ve also ran my truck with the snorkel inlet completely blocked. No issues.
  18. Quieting the RAI (Snorkel) Sound

Yeah, that didn’t work. She was complaining with the window ls up.
