I think a downpipe with a 3" metalic cat will be made. Turbo engines do well in general with a downpipe. It won't pass CARB, but it will NOT have a check engine light and do a good job of taming down turbo exhaust noise.
All modern cars that I know of have a transmission control computer that does indeed remember things like torque overloads and write this into permanent memory. Sometimes putting the car into permanent limp home mode.
SR also comes with a "TRD resonator" delete FREE, everyone else has to pay for a TRD exhaust... LOL... sounds the same, weighs less and cost nothing to boot.
Yes, the factory "cooler" is an oil to water heat exchanger, basically taking 270 degree oil and heating 230 degree cooling system water a little bit. Vs a real oil cooler that sits in front of the radiator taking 270 degree and cooling it with 80 degree air.
I usually don't reply in the negative; however IMO the Taco hood scoop is the ugliest thing on the planet and the best mod IMO is to unglue it and toss it in the trash can.
I looks like the same 10 bolt diff as an other Taco, but till somebody puts one in we will never know. I'll do it as soon as I know. Air locker of course.
I looked at an SR5 today, and the SR has a dinky spacer vs the SR5's dinky oil to water heat exchanger (not really a cooler). I'll just upgrade my spacer to a real oil to air oil cooler when they become available. Not losing any sleep over a 260 degree oil to 230 degree water heat exchanger...
The dyno shows STD correction which is horsepower, but a unicorn is a horse. SAE is the HP the factory uses but I digress. The dyno is done at altitude and the correction factor for NA (normally aspirated) engine like the 3.4 is applied to give the reading of what that engine would put out at...
First tank full truck tires : 22.8 add in 1.3 MPG cause the taller truck tires lets call it 24 MPG, I could tell the first 90 mile of its life (before the heavy K03 tires) I was getting 27 MPG, in moderate traffic. Yes I drive like an oldman, few miles an hour above the speed limit right lane...
checked my SR and it has what look like an oil to water cooler between the filter and the engine block. I assume that this cooler is plumbed to block coolant via internal lines (there are no external lines). When I find a SR5+ I'll look at its cooler maybe the factory does have external lines...
Just checked the oil filter, it is below and directly in front of the engine, looks to be mounted on an oil to water cooler, cooler looks to be directly plumbed to engine block coolant (no external hoses). Have no idea what the SR5+ oil cooler looks like. As already stated, I don't like the...
Every car I've owned over 50 years, had paper plates on when I started modifying them. Every new car I have ever owned had the nay sayers with the bad juju scare tactics of "warranty", new cars are too hard to modify... etc.
I ain't scared. There is nothing I can't fix, I keep a car for 10...
The tuner will give a SR 60 more HP and 70 more ft lbs of torque over an SR5 for about 1/5 the price.... of the SR5 package...( I can find base SR xtra cab; but every SR5+ has silly options that I don't want like 4 doors etc etc) The opposite question is more appropriate, if you going to lift...

AFAIK the engines are identical in every way. Sure the SR5+ has an external oil cooler and I think some water mods. The OEM is concerned with towing a boat over a mountain and heat, for some pep and stop light...
