I believe these OR Bilsteins are similar to what certain trims of the Bronco come with. Seems very similar, if not the same shock.

I will say that I don’t mind the transmission behavior most of the time but I do agree with the high stall speed. I put the TRD exhaust on my truck and it’s become much more noticeable when the windows are down. Especially if you’re driving through a tight street and the exhaust is bouncing off...
Ive been doing a lot of research and it seems the best bang for your buck setup is the Bilstein 6112/5160. However they’re not released yet. The Eibach stage 2R shocks get solid reviews as well. The Fox 2.5s seem nice but I don’t want a shock that needs rebuilt every 30-50k miles.
Not sure if any of you listen to the Smoking Tire podcast but their latest episode reviews the 4Runner TRD Pro (which they thoroughly enjoyed), however, they mentioned that they overheated the transmission on a steep climb in 4HI. They repeated the action in 4LO and the gauge didn’t budge off...
This has to be addressed as there are too many on here with the same issue. My uneducated opinion is that it could be remedied with a software update but first Toyota needs to investigate it which it seems they’re not interested in doing.
I would recommend that those who’ve had this issue and...
Appreciate your input, definitely a lot to consider. The TRD lift kit being on a stop-sale gives me some time to do more research before I pull the trigger. The 6112s will hopefully be on the market soon.
Granted this video is for the Tundra but the TRD lift is a rebadged 5100 kit regardless of the truck so it is relevant and likely applies the same. The external reservoir on the stock OR is more for show than anything. I love mine, but I want a lift and to keep the OEM look.
I installed it myself. 2 bolts and 2 rubber hangers to remove and reinstall. I did have to drop the spare tire down to make it easier to pull the old axle back off. I am by no means a mechanic so trust me when I say it’s an easy job if you’re physically able to crawl under the truck.
Love the stance of your truck and I plan to do the same once I’m able to buy the parts. How do you like the TRD Bilsteins - are they compliant on and off the road? They look like an upgrade over the stock TRD OR shocks even though those have a “piggyback” reservoir. I doubt it does much of...
I bought mine directly through the Toyota parts portal that routes you through local dealers. They typically have discounts off of the MSRP. I paid about $300 for the insulation.
53341-AK010 is indeed the part # and I’ve installed on my 2024 without issue. I can’t imagine it wouldn’t fit on a 2025. Don’t forget the clips when ordering. 90467-A0003, you’ll need 10.
I think there’s more to it than that. My guess is that Toyota will eventually need to issue a transmission logic update or update the radiator/integrated trans cooler. I have a hard time believing all these people have unplugged fans
No bueno. Too many people on here with the same issue for it to be an isolated issue. Hopefully everyone reports it to the dealer rather than just posting about it on here so Toyota is forced to take action.
Mine is smooth with the exception of the first cold shift or two… my BMW with the lauded ZF8 was the same way on a cold start. If your transmission is acting like that consistently then you have a problem.
