Blacking out stock Running Boards

Hi Tacoma Family!

I am looking for some advice.
The stock OEM running boards that came on my ice cap TRD Sport are silver with black and I want to black them out. I'm looking into spraying them, but am unsure what to spray the with exactly. It's also hard to tell what they are made of, but the silver body is already somewhat gritty. What are some suggestions?

Personally, I would get them sprayed with a Line-x type truck bed coating. Very durable and takes the rocks and other road debris quite well
