Can the dial/knob be switched out to add features?

I know in the past Toyota has left certain buttons out of vehicles that activate driving features. I added an A-Trac button to my old FJ Cruiser. I would love to know if someone can try switching the basic knob/dial (limited trim) with one from a TRD Offroad. Would this add functionality for MTS and DAC/Crawl?...

Switch this for the other...

Someone would have to have access to both to try it out.

Right, Typically Toyota uses the same ECU and features for certain models. The features may be there, but no button to activate them.

If the 2024 Tacoma system is like the 2022-2024 Tundra then yes, the switch can physically be switched out. However, once you swapped out the switch, the upgraded features will not work. It will "activate/show up" in your instrument cluster that it's in MTS mode but the actually feature will not activate. To my understanding, it have to do with the ECU. You will need to purchase a few other parts to make the features working. I did not fully read the thread but I have skimmed it.

Its was tried in the Tundra. They discovered MTS requires an additional computer module.

UPDATE: Got my hands on a friends selector switch from their truck and plugged it into my Limited. It did not allow for MTS or DAC to work.
