Hey all, I'm looking to buy a cot to sleep in the bed of my 6ft bed. The truck bed dimensions are 73.5 in. long. All of the cots I am trying to buy are about 74.5 in. long... Do you guys think I could fit it in the bed with the tailgate shut still?

There are few simple or inexpensive solutions for this. My searches yielded little or stuff more expensive than I have in mind. I can look at past notes later if it is pertinent. I'd appreciate knowing what you might find.

maybe do a Hest of some sort, soft compressible mattress top?
I'm also open to a mattress, but I like the portableness and price of a cot.

I have the LB 4th gen, I looked at all these cots online and ultimately canned that idea and decided to build a winter sleeper berth/bench out of 2020 aluminum extrusions over a gear slide. Decking it with WISA Hex Ultralight ply. I have a GFC camper on the truck already, so the lower level bench system will be mainly used for gear organization.

The Pacific Adventure Works cot is probably the best looking design & adjustable for the LB Tacos but I can't square $700 for a sleeping system that'll I'll use just a few times of actual sleeping in the coldest months in the winter when I don't want to open the RTT on the GFC.

I opted for a 6” Milliard trifold mattress on a previous build. Quite comfortable and easy to store. You can also fold it up and use it as a lounge chair with back (if you have the headroom to sit upright). I built a small platform out of 2x4s and plywood so I would have storage underneath (instacrates work great). I now use a RTT, but if I went back to sleeping in a cap, I’d use the Millard again. It also doubles as an acceptable guest mattress for children or easy going adults in the house.
