I withdrew my local dealer allocation for a blue crush metallic 6MT TRD Sport that I had a deposit on 12/15.
After 2 months, I saw no movement and figured it would be deep into summertime before it was allocated with a working VIN. With the help of the every few days updating Tacoma allocation update sheet, I went on a frantic search to find a similar Tacoma with my price point around 44k.
I found a few and asked my local dealer to do a dealer allocation swap to no avail. He kept coming back with already sold or the other dealer was not interested.
On 2/15, I struck gold, Bronz Oxide that is. I found a TRD Sport 6MT at 44k in Northern Michigan and when I emailed the sales guy (I tried to get my sales guy to swap with him, both sides did not know what I was doing behind the scenes) the morning of 2/15 to ask if it was still available despite being de-listed on their website and stating 'SOLD' on the allocation sheet, he responded saying it was still available.
I put my deposit down within minutes and canceled my other dealer allocation thereafter.
I now have an actual allocated truck in the system instead of waiting to be put on that list. That Tacoma allocation sheet is da bomb. These last 2 weeks I have been using it to success. And thankfully it got me the truck I desired. Now I can wait in peace.
