Want to buy this jerry can

But one of the reviews mentioned that the spout is incompatible with the Ranger:

"The can is great and feels solid, I think I can trust it for spare fuel storage for traveling. The spout, however, has a safety valve, and it doesn't work for my Ford EasyFuel Ranger.

I tried several things. First I tried it directly, but the spout tip fits tightly and when you push to open the valve, the fuel comes out through the slots and spills back into the over flow drain and onto the floor. Next, I removed the valve so that there is a hole to the end of the spout. But even though that helped, there is too much flow still coming out of the slots and it over flows. Lastly, I used the Ford emergency filler (white plastic spout in picture). This sorta worked, I could push the valve open against it and it would flow into the filler, but I had to go slow and it's complicated. I don't want complicated when pouring fuel.

I sprung for the flexible Valpro NATO Long-Nose Flexible Jerry Can Spout/Nozzle because it is straight-through, has a smaller diameter tip, and the tip is long enough to open the EasyFuel door."

Does this make sense? Thanks!

Ford went to a capless filler a decade or more ago. Basically there's 2 little spring closed round 'doors' in the filler neck. You have to get past the 2nd door to fill the tank. Ford supplies a little POS mini funnel that pushes through both doors. I used it with a larger funnel stuck into it with a 5gal round can i use for emergency Gas storage, with an open neck. It worked fine. The detent valve on the end of the can that you'll get will be worthless, but the reviewer is saying that the NATO longneck one will fit into the fuel filler neck past both little doors so can be used w/o the Ford POS one to fill direcly from the can. Sounds like a winner with the long NATO neck.

Shop around, that Amazon price is high, in a quick search I found it for $90 with free shipping.

Wavian USA occasionally has free shipping sales, you could sign up and wait for one, and you would also get 10% off your first order. I really like the Wavian steel cans, but their EPA spouts suck, look for regular (non plastic) replacements, buy TWO so you will have an extra for when one gets lost or swiped…. I picked up two at an Army Navy Surplus store, but here is one type:

I wish Wavian sold their 2.5 gallon can for a reasonable amount, it is close to the same price as the 5 gallon one. I would prefer to carry the littler one…. It would fit the Ranger bed better in the right rear corner, sitting upright.
