Offroading: Where do you think new 4runner sits compared to its rivals?

If it is, indeed, a supplier capacity problem, it would be a lot harder to find a Land Cruiser if they didn't make it optional... because they wouldn't be building any Land Cruisers except for 1958s.

I expect that once the supply catches up, they'll make it a model year change where they offer it on TRD OR trim 4runners and make it standard again on Land Cruisers.

FWIW, there isn't a single TRD OR Tacoma with SDM for sale within 500 miles of me. That's another data point saying that the mechanism is supply constrained right now. Hopefully just something temporary.

My local dealership has several Tacomas with SDM. Was actually thinking about that as an alternative. I prefer the SUV form, but it would be kind of nice to have the bed sometimes.
