So I'm looking into buying the Diamondback HD for my 2024, and then I was considering getting their SxS setup:

https://diamondbackcovers.com/products/diamondbacksxs?variant=29065304713

However, they don't offer it for Tacomas at all, apparently. I called Diamondback and the guy said that, according to their techs, the Taco beds walls won't support the weight., but he suggested that there may be some "bed reinforcement" products out there that would enable this type of SxS setup.

Question: Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, I then asked if the Taco bed would even support the 1600 lbs that the typical Diamondback HD is rated for, and he said he didn't know.

Question: Does anyone know that answer?

Thanks,

Jon

To answer the first question, he's talking about bed stiffeners. There are lots of options and it's up to you to decide which is best for you but here's an example. Another, less expensive option...

The second question I can't answer but for sure you would have to upgrade the rear suspension to handle it and you'd be very close, if not over the GVWR... See page 29 for example, which states the max payload for the TRD OR to be right in that range.
