When I first purchased my Trailhunter, one of the first things I noticed was the lack of storage in the back seat. The front passenger seat has a pocket but not the driver and there is ZERO under seat storage due to the hybrid battery. Fortunately, a local (to me) company was thinking one step ahead.
Raingler Nets has a solution that stores gear up and out of the way, utilizing the space above. Granted, there's not much head room in the back seat to begin with, but somehow they were able to use it. While the product itself is a little pricey compared to other brands, this one is not a generic fit. It is meant for the 4th gen and works seamlessly with the mounting options that come with the truck. Installation wasn't too difficult, as it required me to remove the paneling on both of the center columns, but with the provided directions and patience, it all went smoothly. The entire process took about 1.5 hrs.
After installation, I was curious if the attic rendered the back seats useless, and too my surprise, due to the shape of the net, I could sit comfortably on either side of the truck. The center seat was not usable for someone that's a bit taller, but could still be used by kids. This is kind of a mute point, due to the fact that I will be removing 60% of the backseat to allow for a fridge or dog kennel.
The product itself is extremely durable, well made, and has a clean look. When I initially ordered the netting, I reached out to Eddie at Raingler and asked him if he could do a custom order that involved stitching strips of the soft side of Velcro on the left to right strips. I noticed that the only place on the interior of the new Tacoma's where patches would stick, are on the center console below. After some brainstorming, we came up with a solution and he put it into production. The final product looks and works great. Now I have ample space to display patches as I get them.
TLDR: Low on backseat space? Buy the Raingler Ceiling Attic. Install was involved but not difficult. Durable and looks great. ASK FOR VELCRO STRIPS IF YOU WANT TO DISPLAY PATCHES! 10/10
