Hey guys, I currently own a 2022 Ford Ranger and love everything about the truck, except one thing, the taillights. Don't get me wrong, I love the look and everything about them, the thing is, I live in San Antonio, TX which unfortunately is a notorious spot for taillight thefts on all Ford trucks. The taillights on my truck have been stolen not once, but 3 times now...I have done everything from buying extra security latches for the tailgate to shaving down bolts to pretty much flush but still keeps happening. I just dont know what else I can do and can't deal with it anymore, which sucks because I love this truck. It's just frustrating that one of the most expensive parts of the truck is the easiest to take out. Also Ford knows about it and doesn't seem to care which sucks.

Anyways, it has since been fixed yet again but I'm left with no other choice than to trade it in. I would love to get a new generation Ranger, but my question for yall is are the taillights on the new generation Rangers just as easy to get out as the 2019-2022s? Has anyone had this experience out there with the new generations? Thanks for reading my rant And your responses in advance.

I haven't had mine stolen but yes they easy to take out once the tailgate is down. Just need a torx bit and they can be removed in about 30 seconds or so.

I hate to say it but I think we will see an increase in taillight “borrowing” on the 24+ ranger as more Rangers are produced and there is more need for replacent taillights.

Yes BUT, the tailgate locks when you lock your doors, which I'm guessing is true of all trim levels.

If the tailgate is locked, that makes tailgate and taillight theft more difficult l.

It's not just a Ford Ranger thing. It happens with all makes and models.
On your next one, fill in the screw heads with epoxy or JB Weld, or change to security screws. It will help, but not 100%.

Slightly more difficult. A screwdriver in just the right place will unlock the tailgate.
