Has anyone changed their Rear Diff fluid yet on SR5's? The manual says 4.8 quarts, and my SR5 took exactly 4 quarts. Very level. I wouldve not cared much if it took 4.5, but not a drop more than 4. Seems like the book is quite off.

Update: I drove it around, then rechecked it. The 4.8 quarts they list must be the total for a 100% dry diff. Id say theres most likely 0.8 puddled in there somewhere. Its full at 4.0

What’s the service interval?
I hadn't checked. I change all my fluids almost immediately after i get a new vehicle, within a couple thousand miles. Theres usually quite a bit of metal particles from break in i like to get out. The diffs always look pretty nasty the first go around, clear up after the 3rd or so flush...then are great for the life of the vehicle.

After that i do all the diffs every 20,000 miles.

Here you go brother. Straight out of the Toyota service manual. Look at the sticker on your diff or just fill until it trickles out of the fill hole.

I hear ya. The manual says 4.8 quarts. 0.8 Quarts is almost a whole quart, and thats alot of difference from 4.0 quarts even. The third and second gen took pretty much exactly as advertised.
I still think 0.8 quarts off is alot, but as i stated after, theyre probably measuring that amount from a bone dry diff. After you drain, im sure theres just some residual puddles here and there taking up the remaining 0.8.
Thanks though!
