Hoping someone here has fresh ideas or especially experience.
long story short some recent off road experiences made me a believer in traction boards. I don’t have any yet because I haven’t decided on mounting. That’s why I’m here.
I have a long bed with a synetic USA tonneau cover on (retractable). Mounting inside the bed doesn’t seem like an option because of where the box for the cover sits at the bulkhead. And the sides aren’t great because of wheel wells. I use the truck bed and don’t have room for the boards inside.
roof rack would be a good option other than that I don’t have one. Seems a little silly to get one just for traction boards.
two remaining options:
1. A single cross bar I can put all the way at the front of the bed (cover has t slots). Across or perpendicular to the truck. Billie bars/similar are pretty high (6 inch being the lowest). I think 1 inch or almost flush would be more appropriate and keep it lower profile in my back window.
2. A single side mount in the T slot (parallel to the truck). Haven’t seen anything like this and not sure it would be feasible, but a bar I could mount in the t slot and attach a board to would be pretty slick and not really limit bed access.
If anyone has recommendations along these lines, or photo/description of your solution I’d love to hear it. Thank you!
