The hybrid doesn't come in a manual transmission though.

Those are the MPG specs for a nonhybrid SR5. These specs are simply the "max" of each category (hybrid HP and torque figures shown, but nonhybrid towing figure shown). Sure, the hybrid MPG could be coming in around this, but that's not where they are getting that number.

Look to the Tundra non-hybrid to hybrid... the mpg doesn't really improve. I've been told from the dealership that the hybrid won't really have better mpg for the Tacoma either.

Your dealer is incorrect and sounds like they just want to sell you a car now and not wait.

it won’t be a huge increase, but easily 2-3 mpg WITH 465 lb feet torque.

the competitors with that amount of torque are 15-17.
