Interesting. I also have 8.5 wheels but with 285/75 R17 tires. At least for the ridge grapplers, the width difference is only about 0.24 inches (285/75 = 11.26 inches 11.26 vs. 285/70 = 11.50 inch). Not sure how you have more poke than my setup. Do you have a TRD Offroad trim? Do you have...
If you want to run 285/75 R17 ridge grapplers with some poke, I would personally buy some +12 or +0 offset wheels. You can see why in the videos below:
1. TRDJon used RRW 17x 8 wheels with a +12 offset. He shows just a little but noticeable amount of poke. See mins 0:41 - 2:32
2. Jeff at...
Thanks for the compliment! I'm just going to keep things as they are until I need to replace my tires in the future. I'll revisit the issue again then. For now, I've very satisfied. Can't wait to test my rig setup with my overlanding trip to the Grand Canyon next week.
I forgot to mention I switched out the OEM rear suspension coils with Eibach coils (PartNum: E30-82-105-02-02). These are meant to handle loads in the 200-400 pound range which is where I'm at when out camping. The OEM coils sag way too much under load as do the Icon springs which I also...
You're right on the height but I was thinking the extra width would visually fill out more of the wheel well. My current tires are 11.26 inches wide but the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs are 12.8 inches for their 35 x 12.5 R17. I live in LA. Its a looks thing. However, I've decided to stay...
Thanks for your comments. I agree with your assessment. I think I will keep my current setup and use the money for other mods. Too late for me on the King suspension. I already paid a ton for my current Fox setup. If I ever get new suspension though I'm going with a long travel kit!!!
I'll get you that pic in the next couple of days. In the meantime, I can tell you my front tires are just a few millimeters inside the wheel well (no poke) and rear tires appear flush with the fender. I have 285/75 R17 Nito Ridge Grapplers so the tire width is 11.26 inches. If I went with the...
I'm using the Fox 2.5 Elite Performance with DSC adjusters. I was going to go for the King shocks but I would have had to wait a week. These were in stock so I bit the bullet.
Thanks for providing the comparisons. I actually went to my nearby Toyota dealerships to view the TRD Pros and get these measurements myself but they are all sold out. Your approximate measurements are helpful. Thanks!
I'm new here and would like to get the communities critique, advice and recommendations for my 2025 TRD Offroad build. As you can see in the photos, I have a 3 inch lift upfront and approximately 1.5-2 inch lift in the rear (depending on cargo load). I have 285/75 R17 tires running on Method...
