As The Who said, "Go to the mirror boy...". Clearly, if you're in your "element", or anyone's element for that sake, if you search existing posts with the word "outside", you'll find the several posts that are "outside" the TSB. Rather than putting your effort into dissing people trying to...
Entering "Smartass Mode": I think Toyota should send every 24 Tacoma owner a free OBDII code reader, maybe even include the OBDII reader code in the ECM and display real-time results as a choice in the Multi-Display unit. Maybe even integrate the code with the vehicle telemetrics so that when...
Very well written. Thank you. Totally agree. Given similar symptoms (Tacoma Pro) of intermittent delayed shift into 4th (and hard shift into 2nd), plus the existence of the TSB that includes my VIN (4/24 build), I asked the dealer (and Toyota Corporate/BEC) to authorize under warranty to drop...
Good points Fisher. Maybe the event happened because as you mentioned you're driving at altitude and in the mountains. Maybe a sudden change in altitude, temp or since you're in the "bomb/river", humidity or moisture. All meaning maybe/hopefully it was a one-time event. It sounds like it's...
Oh boy - maximum empathy with what you're going through with the truck and in the middle of that bomb cyclone and atmospheric river combo.
Quick thought if it would help: if you haven't done it already, make an app't with your local dealer; also think about getting a OBDCII reader, one that...
Yes it should also be readable at the dealership. Apparently in the vehicle's ODBC/ECM firmware there are fields to "store" codes. I believe some consumer ODBC readers allow the user to "erase stored codes" so be careful you don't invoke any of that functionality.
Thank you chief. I've owned this one that's a bit more expensive but where the sensor firmware is constantly updated OTA for new vehicles. Works w/App for iPhone and Android via bluetooth. 'Just FYI.
Here's a link to an earlier article on the same class action lawsuit. It appears to be more informative.

Dirt and Tacofreak - thank you. This is great information and background. I have a Tacoma Pro/Hybrid w/1400 miles on it, and also experience the poor gas mileage. I barely got 20 mgp on the expressway, flat road, hypermiling. Now experiencing "hard shifts". So we'll see what happens going...
I agree with 'timetoeatpotatoes'. Yes, we should be able to count the VIN #s affected by this simply by looking at the last TSB (T-SB-0094-24) then counting the numbers listed in the last 6 digits of each row. This assumes that each row VIN # starts at "1". I believe this includes those...
Check these out - scroll down the page a bit to find the CBI "Rock Sliders". (I saw them on another thread.) I really like look for the step assistance and the rock-slider aspect for undercarriage durability. Current availability is for the ICE models; hybrid is coming Jan 1 due to...
I wish we didn't have to go through all this. Especially with the hybrid guts needing to be replaced as well as the transmission and torque converter. Sounds like they'll need to extend the warranty on the whole vehicle, too because so many other parts are impacted. Yikes.
And...we won't...
IMO, "the diagnosis is in the known TSB VIN# range(s). Also IMO, within about another 3 months they'll probably issue a recall. I'm sure they are realizing the extent of the problem and are determining recall parameters. However, knowing what they know for the involved VIN ranges, they should...
And...we won't talk about the decline in the market value/saleability of the vehicle for an involved, covered VIN # while all this goes on. They better get their act together, and quickly. Sounds like I better write that letter, given what I/we know, so they can pay my towing, rental car and...
