rkando I think that’s only the switch. It’s not the harness which we may not have to plug it into. Please keep us informed and I hope I’m wrong.

@Windsor you’re not the only one. As crazy as it sounds I’m considering trading in this year, if it’s a Tacoma possibly on a premium one that comes with trailer brake controller. This is ridiculous.

My 2012 Ram had one and I think the 2011’s did too. That’s where I first got spoiled with built in OEM ones

Yes sir, totally normal. It’s in the manual too somewhere. It caught me off guard a couple months ago in my garage as well.

I find Normal mode gets better mileage in the city. The eco mode I was always revving higher for power.

@saerandy on #7, I easily get 300 miles (480 km) per tank on my TRD Off Road in city driving. I aim for 313 miles (500 km). The tank after reading refuel has over 50km left in it. Mine has the 6’ box and is a base Off Road.

I have the TRD Off Road 6’ box. Only the premium trim Sport and Off Roads have it here. I’m waiting for someone to figure out how to install it in a lower trim.

Best Tacoma since the 2004 model year. Bar none. Just wish it had a trailer brake controller.

My Off Road 6’ bed is good for 500km + in city driving. I fuelled up at 500 km and still had 8 litres in the tank.

In my opinion you do not want a Bluetooth or wireless trailer brake controller. Trailer brakes need to be hard wired and work, period. With two phones hooked up to my truck and areas with spotty reception I don’t want to be fiddling with wireless connectivity at anytime towing a trailer.

Is it still possible there is a hidden harness for the OEM controller? They sell the switch for it so maybe 🤔 . We need someone to dig into a wrecked one and find that harness. Or experiment with one. I’m thinking there must be a way to wire in the OEM unit.
