I can see the utility of the electric liftgate if putting a wedge camper on the bed. After you get in the bed at night you need to get that gate up…easier to do it electronically than rigging some type of pull strap that would otherwise just be in the way.
I hope there will be delete credits…most notably for that sport rack thing on the bed rails. Completely useless for overlanding and in the way if you want to add a GFC or Super Pacific wedge camper.
I know a few folks at ARB that were involved in this project. Great to see the partnership and integration…definitely took this further than Ford and ARB. BTW, GM is doing the same with AEV for the soon to be announced Colorado ZR2 Bison.
There is a post on another thread showing TH starting at $52K…more than the Pro. Still unclear how much of the reveal bits are included at that price or even if those numbers are real.
My preference is to run an inverter off a house battery and not off anything related to starting the engine. Perhaps Toyota is using the hybrid motor battery for the inverter? That could be interesting as in theory it wouldn’t compromise the gas engine starter battery. Would really like to know...
amps x volts = watts. Likewise amp-hours x volts = watt-hours. How many amp-hours (Ah) is the battery supporting that 2.4Kw inverter? Also, is it pure sine?
Less than ideal. Put some upward pressure on a recovery strap and it’s going to make a mess of that pretty plastic bumper. [Edit: now I see them...I take back what I said...they are terrible. Basically located at the front of each tire and low. Just imagine getting bogged down in the deep stuff...
I really like that ZR2 as well. Was initially thinking the new Taco might benefit from the longer bed, but it appears that the 6' bed is only available on the lower trim packages, not the Pro/Trailhunter.
Looks really nice but like the Tundra, it appears that Toyota forgot the front recovery points. Maybe they expect people to buy ARB for this? Also, did they fix the horrendous sitting position for taller drivers? [Edit: yes, Toyota did fix the sitting position…more upright, taller cab, and less...
