Looks like the sport bar will be an option versus being standard as well.
the ARB full bed Rack looks sweet

I keep looking for the front recovery points and can't see them in the pics posted. The rear ones are quite obvious thanks to ARB.

They are there. Look for them on either side of where the steel skid plate starts, i.e. they are well tucked under the front. They are painted black like everything else under there and are two flat loops, shown in the photo above of the front underside.
Edit: You can see them better in this TFL YT video, link should start at 46 seconds in

Less than ideal. Put some upward pressure on a recovery strap and it’s going to make a mess of that pretty plastic bumper. [Edit: now I see them...I take back what I said...they are terrible. Basically located at the front of each tire and low. Just imagine getting bogged down in the deep stuff and having those recovery points buried right when you most need access to them. Toyota, shame on you.]

Agreed. Still can’t find a clear answer about the 2400W if it works when engine is off (running from the hybrid battery) but it looks like not.

Probably not. I would think the battery pack wouldn’t last a crazy long time???
Any smart pants out there can do some math of 2400watts with the size of the battery pack, for an estimated hourly run time?
Perhaps it will work in accessory mode or even like the Wrangler 4xe owners have found if they unplug the drivers door wiring harness then it “tricks” the vehicle and the inverter works with the wrangler engine off.

Edit: i guess maybe this isn’t that hard to figure out. If my google education is correct a 1.9 kilowatt battery pack would run a 100 watt light bulb for 19 hours and a 1000 watt (whatever item) for 1.9 hours (approximately).

edit again: i didn’t take into account amperage so I’m hoping an electrical engineer shows up soon so i can stop embarrassing myself lol

Yes. Battery is 1.87-kWh. My camping fridge takes 50W but it only runs when the temperature rises past a certain level. Therefore, assuming the fridge runs 20% of the time, it‘s equivalent to a 10W continuous draw, meaning 187 hours. This is 7.8 days which is enormous. Keep in mind the battery recharges when you drive, and I never spend more than 2 nights at the same campsite.

1.87-kwh is bigger than what 99% of overlanders have as a portable battery in their truck. My Ecoflow River 2 Pro is less than half of that.

amps x volts = watts. Likewise amp-hours x volts = watt-hours. How many amp-hours (Ah) is the battery supporting that 2.4Kw inverter? Also, is it pure sine?

Great question. I haven’t seen any data other than 2400 watt inverter. I would think they would opt for a true pure sine.

From what I saw in a video yesterday it looked like two bolts were holding the recovery points to the frame. So in theory the aftermarket could create a bolt-on solution that follows the contours of the front molding to bring the front loops up and forward for easier access ... and paint them red 'coz they won't work otherwise ;-)

If Toyota are smart then they should have made the inverter operate like Ford's ProPower in the F-150 hybrid, i.e. works when vehicle is off but will auto-start the engine to use as a generator to charge up the battery when it gets too low. Much cleaner and more efficient than portable generators too. IIRC the guy on the SUV & Truck YT site actually used the ProPower to operate an air conditioner in an RV trailer, where it operated exactly like this.

My goal is not only to use the inverter for a fridge/freezer but also for a dual induction cooktop. If the inverter operated as above then it might even be used for electric heating in the shoulder or winter seasons, which means eliminating the space, weight and safety issues of propane or the need for a diesel heater. It would also eliminate the need for a portable lithium power station or bothering with solar, again contributing to weight savings in what are likely to be payload constrained vehicles. The only extra fuel that might be needed would then be gas, depending on fuel tank size/range requirements.

I agree but I think it won’t work like the ford because:

- Toyota did not advertise it, and it’s such a game changer for overlanding they would for sure have advertised big time that it works with engine off.
- on Tundra hybrid which has the same battery, the power does not work if the engine is off.

It’s a huge shame. Between this and the lack of memory seats and the fact that it will most likely cost a ton more than the ZR2, I might go with the ZR2 instead. Except if Toyota was smart with the Trailhunter and gave it the proper shock tune and spring rate for its intended use so that they give it a high GVWR and therefore a good payload. I would be very happy with 1500lbs of payload considering the Trailhunter already has steel bumper and rock plates and rock rails. If it’s 1100lbs I am out.

I hope you're wrong because I agree it will be a missed opportunity and a huge shame if it lacks that flexibility. I've also priced out a ZR2 and around $52k gets me all I would want in options but I'd lose the 6' bed and the payload may be a bit of an issue. The ZR2 TFL drove on the Vegas to Reno press event had a payload of 1153 lbs versus the website 1423 lbs which has me a bit concerned; YT video showing ZR2 payload at 19:26 timestamp here.

In any event if the Toyota lacks a ProPower-like capability then I'd fall back to using something like the Anker PowerHouse 767 2400W/2048kWh portable power station; again provided payload doesn't become an issue.

Of course the more radical solution may be to start from a TRD Off Road and spec up from there to get what I want.
