They look like cheap covers. I had that version originally, and replaced them with the 2-piece covers. Looks a lot better, especially the area around the touch sensor. Hard to tell them from factory with the 2-piece.
I'm still waiting on somebody that has the wiring diagrams to post something. My Limited has LED turn signals, and the plug has 4 wires. Just need the wiring diagram and I can figure it out from there...
So you're basing the claim of vehicles outside the TSB range on the dates of the complaints? That's no proof at all that these VINS are outside the TSB range. In other words, there is no direct evidence of a failure outside the TSB range at this point.
I have a request. This is the plug from the LED turn signals/DRLs on the left front (from my Limited). If anyone has access to the wiring diagrams, can you tell me which wire is which? I'm expecting a ground, turn signal, DRL, and (possibly) low-beam DRL.
Thanks for the help. Here's the plug:
Black stick-on covers for the door handles. I did plasti-dip (actualy, Rustoleum Peel-Coat, same thing) for the rear surround. Super easy. Remove and coat 8-10 times.
33" tires on the 20" wheels. 1" larger than stock. No issues at all. Even did the full-size spare with the same rim. The...
Bumping this thread to see if anyone has info on exactly which wires to tap to get these fang lights working? I have a Limited with the OEM LED turn signals, and it's not clear at all which lines to tap. Still waiting on someone to show precisely which wires contain the DRL, fog, and turn...
The music source switching is an Apple issue. If you unlock your iphone, many apps (including Facebook) will auto-switch the source to Carplay audio. Extremely annoying if you're listening to SirusXM. I've been looking for a way to disable this, but so far, haven't found one. FYI.
Ride is great on the Tundra 20". Tires are 33", 1" taller than the stock 32. No rubbing or any other issues. Bolt-on replacement.
Door handles were a matter of convienence. Replacing them requires door panel removal. I might get around to that, especially once we get some good DIY...
The TSB itself has some interesting info. The codes related to solenoid failures in the AT and it references a “production change”. This is consistent with prior reports of ”casting debris” from the Aisin supplier. This is the likely source of the stuck solenoids. We can only speculate what...
Finished the chrome delete on my 4G.
20" Tundra wheels
OEM color-matched mirror covers
OEM "Limited" badge covers
Black Chrome Exhaust
OEM "TACOMA" tailgate inserts
Plasti-dip rear door handle surround
Black ABS door handle covers
I didn't bother with the front grill. I'm ok with this...

+1 on the plastidip coating. In my case, I used Rustoleum Peel Coat (same thing, basically). Thin, light coats are the key. I did about 10, turned out perfect. First pic is just after the last coat. Still wet, it turns matte black when dry.
What model Tacoma is that? I had my Limited at the dealer to turn on the spare tire pressure. They spent 2 hours, charged me $200, and said it couldn't be done. Something about only the Trailhunter and TRD Pro allowed this. I think they're idiots, and had no idea where to go in the Toyota...
There's a few variations on the term "reliability". One variation is design defects. Another is manufacturing defects. Yet a third is the use of less expensive materials and assembly techniques which age poorly and require replacement with time.
Toyota excels at the first and third types of...
By what mechanism do you think higher octane is improving performance? It's not energy content. Higher octane is marginally lower in energy. This is a common myth. Higher octane does not improve performance or gas mileage. All it does is reduce knock in certain engines with delayed timing...
