Might be a dumb question, but what happens if you try and start the truck with the relay open? Will it attempt to start and then trigger a CEL, or just refuse to crank? I wonder if kill switches are more likely to trigger fault codes on modern, less analog cars.
Finished changing front and rear diff oil on a limited hybrid today, and I can confirm that the crush washer PNs and drain/fill plug tool sizes are the same for ICE/Hybrid. The hybrid rear diff did appear to take more oil (roughly 4.8 qts), but that could have been due to not fully emptying the...
Thanks for the write up, extremely helpful especially the crush washer PNs. It looks like your truck is conventional ICE. Any chance during your research you came across hybrid specific info? I am guessing the rear diff holds more fluid since it's larger, but don't know if it shares the same...
Personally I notice a pretty significant difference, particularly in comfort mode. The difference is noticable over small bumps, but I find it most noticable over larger undulations at high speed. The comfort setting seems noticably underdamped in those situations, and can be quite floaty...
I had the same issue. Ended up just carefully cutting it off with side cutters since the plastic is quite soft. Doesn't serve any purpose other than briefly glowing in the dark after the cover is closed. Was worried that it would eventually cause damage from getting pinched between the cover and...
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried a few others from Amazon which were advertised as the correct fit, but unfortunately didn't work. I'll give some of these a shot since they're easily returned if there's an issue.
Has anyone found aftermarket cabin air filters that fit the 2024+ Tacoma? Non of my go-to manufacturers seem to have it included in their fitment guides as of yet, and from what I have gathered, I don't think the filter is a shared part with other Toyota models such as the Tundra.
My dealer also removed them to install a front plate bracket that I didn't need, but fortunately I found the caps in the cab later on. Silly question, but did you check the glovebox, center console, and seat back pocket to make sure they didn't leave them for you? Bummer if they tossed them.
Do you notice any drone at highway speeds? I would like to upgrade my stock exhaust, but am paranoid about drone since it seems like the TRD exhaust lacks a resonator compared to the stock one.
Fantastic info, thanks for sharing. I opted out of Toyota telematics shortly after purchasing the truck, but will be doing this as well since I don't have full faith the the opt-out will be fully honored long term.
I took the plunge and pulled a cover from one of the wheels on my limited. They are pretty firmly attached, so some patience is required to get them off. The black finish underneath the adhesive looks pretty good, not flawless around the lugs, but probably good enough to not notice from more...
Got my Dongar Pro in the mail today and it looks great! Like the previous poster, I am also looking to power a Uniden radar detector in addition to a dash cam which takes a mini usb. My intention is to power the camera off the adapter's usb output, and then splice a RJ11 into the harness which...
Glad to hear you had a good experience with Livermore. I had reached out to them about buying a Limited Hybrid and unfortunately had the opposite experience. Completed the transaction via SmartPath online, but they refused to put their approval in writing until I showed up in person to "see what...
FYI, everything done with Carista can also be done with a knockoff Toyota Techstream cable from eBay. That approach will cost you $30 upfront and no recurring cost, but does require more technical knowledge and a Windows computer. Legacy Techstream does work on the 24 Tacoma even though only the...
