2 Ways to Remote Start on 2024+ Tacoma 4th Gen

There are two ways to remote start the 2024 Toyota Tacoma:

(A) Use the FOB. Pro's - in a cold climate like Boston, the night before you leave the truck , set the heater and blower on high. Same with the steering wheel heater and heated seats. Bingo, the next morning when you remote start your Tacoma, everything will be toasty warm. On the negative side, the FOB must have the truck in unobstructed, nothing blocking the the FOB signal. Also somewhat bad, the clicking sequence. Sometimes, it can take four or five attempts to start the truck with the FOB.

(B) Use the App on your phone to remote start the truck. Pros- the truck does not even have to be sight. Also, you can custom set, the truck interior temperature higher using the App. Now, when I use App on my phone to remote start the truck, I have the temperature set to 78 degrees. On the negative side, the remote App will not activate the heated seats. Even worse is the fact that after the one year trial, the cell phone remote App will cost $15.00 a month.

I use the app and the heated steering wheel will come on if set when I park the truck but not the heated seats. are you saying that if I use the FOB the seats will work?

Yes, the evening before you leave the truck for the night , set the heater and blower on high. Same with the steering wheel heater and heated seats. Bingo, the next morning when you remote start your Tacoma with the FOB, everything will be toasty warm.

I believe if you turn off the climate preset option in the app the heated seats come on with remote. Havent' fully tested it yet but I'm pretty sure as my seats came on originally with the truck if they were left on , but once I enabled the climate preset option they didn't

Confirmed that if you disable the climate preset the seat heater stays on if it was on when you parked.

It doesn't work like that for me on my 24 OR. No matter what I set the blowers and defrosters to the night before, they always revert back to a default setting when the truck is started, be it with the keyfob or with the start button. That default is blower on mid and defrosters off. The only way I can get these to turn on with remote smart is to use the app with the custom climate options set. Even then it often seems only one of the defrosters turns on.
