First post - I wanted to add a little razzle dazzle to my first Taco.

Yesterday I had the totally functional hood scoop wrapped in satin black to match a lot of the exterior plastic. Yes, this idea was completely authentic and not at all inspired by a more expensive trim. Next, I applied some tailgate inserts (black & white topo stickers) to make sure everyone behind me knew what model of truck I had.

This weekend I plan to plasti dip the front Toyota emblem and save $300 instead of ordering that part.

Minor stuff here but feel free to comment. Sarcasm included. 🦏

Nice truck and nice mods! Can you tell me a bit about the wrapping process. I have been thinking of doing this to my white TRD Sport and also considering the roof. Does this stuff hold up and last? I live in Southwest Florida and the heat/sun takes its toll in vehicles. Like you I just like the look and not trying to make my Sport a Pro, if I wanted all the Pro stuff I would have just purchased a Pro. I wanted a highway cruiser and light 4WD capability not an OR truck. That does not mean we can’t have it look the way we want.

Appreciate the compliments! This is my first time having something wrapped professionally, so I’ll have to get back to you on the life of the wrap. It should last a while (years) just with the location not getting that beat up. Different story for a fender. This was more of an aesthetically pleasing mod, opposed to protection from the elements.

With that being said, I’m in Colorado so our climates are not very similar. This summer, I do plan to take it on trails, nothing intense but I want to go places my previous Audi couldn’t. If I did want something to protect the paint, I’d go with a clear PPF. This is on my radar but I haven’t had the truck long enough to see which areas are getting the most beat up, whether from little rock’s hitting front bumper/grill on highways, to things being kicked up on sides from AT tires.

Summed up: If paint protection is your goal, there’s a specific product for that. If it’s protection and style, then you may be able to accomplish both with a colored wrap. Ask a professional, but wrapping the roof will probably be $750-$1k.
