Made it past 5,000 miles with no issues!!!

First dealer inspection and oil change went without any issues or findings. Dealer had no issues with my Victory 4x4 front skid plate getting access to oil filter and oil drain plug.

New additions since last report:

Lo-Max bed cover and RC rear retrieval points on rear. I kept the factory ones in position with new skid plate up front and picked up a couple of new snatch straps.

I don't think they do an oil change at 5,000 miles, do they? I've had a couple RAV 4 Primes since 2022, the 5,000 mile service is just tire rotation, perform a few checks, and address any concerns that might have come up. Is it different with the Tacomas?

No, but apparently some dealers don't care when you get your 2 free oil changes.
I'm planning to have the dealer do the first one at 5000. If I have to pay for it, I will. Will probably do one myself at 15k.

Do you know if they were able to use the access plate to do the oil change or did they have to remove the skid plate?

My dealership sent me a email this week for an appointment already for November when they estimate my 5000 mile service. I’m currently at 2000 miles and I’m considering getting the first oil change at 2500.

The maintenance log even suggests every 5000 if you drive on dirty or dusty roads. Otherwise 10,000 miles.

Ok, thank you. I do get the same notifications but the 5,000 mike appointment is just tire rotation. It would make sense if the oil changes were more frequent with the Tacoma if they're accounting for towing or off road driving.
I'm planning on purchasing a 2024 or 2025 Tacoma, I'll have to keep an eye out. I don't really like going 10,000 miles anyway.

This is how they have it documented in the log.

I agree , I don’t like going 10,000 miles.

I just hit 5k last week and got my first service. They did an oil change but I had to ask. Just be specific when you talk to them; like the log says, you should change oil every 5k if you spend a significant amount of time off-roading, towing, or in otherwise extreme conditions.

Does the Victory skid plate work on the Sport without adding the crossmember?
