Tonight I noticed that where the driver-side front mat locks are on my new TRD Sport, there's an air gap of about an inch+ under them between the carpet and the actual frame. In other words, with any floor mat or all weather mat taken off, if you press on the twist locks, you can press down an inch or more before you feel the frame. No cushion there, just a gap. This is true across the entire side through to the console.

Has anyone else noticed a problem here? It seems like it would cause early wear and even a tear in the pre-formed crease under the seat.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

I noticed this too.

When I was test driving a bunch of different trims (OR, SR5, Sport) they all had that "squishy" feel on the floor.

So, I went around and checked inside a half dozen more sitting on the lots and they all had this so I just assumed it was by design and it's supposed to be that way.

Had my truck two months now and it's been a non-issue.
