Auto tailgate latch not releasing

Happening more and more often. Maybe more as it gets colder. Toyota said they need my truck for 24-48 hours with no loaner.

Why no loaner?

It isn't like a tailgate that opens is an luxury feature - it pretty much defines a freaking pickup. I would call bs on the no loaner part, and make sure they knew that I was not happy.
