are those sockets a custom size or can a standard torks wrench take them off.

Standard size, it replaces the oem socket head which you can unbolt from the outside with the tailgate closed and locked

One of the first things I added to my 25’ Tacoma, even though I have a power tailgate and trifold tonneau.
My neighbor is missing his tailgate on his 3rd gen and I’ve seen way too many Tacomas without tailgates. This is my first truck, so at first I thought it was by choice to have no tailgate. Now, I know it’s because of theft.
This feels like a great deterrent and was easy to install.

@john877 said this in another thread, but there wasn’t a picture. Going to try this today. “I just use a worm hose clamp on the side hinge that you can lift off, just point the screw side down. If anything it makes it more difficult to just lift off the tailgate.”

Mine seems slightly angled, no issues opening or closing.

I got the same thing as Viper just posted and it's basically a lockable hose clamp w/ protective outer strip---- mine fit perfectly as well.
