2024 Tacoma Can you remove the TRD PRO emblems from the hood? IMG_2459
Hello guys,

looking to remove the hood emblems on the TRD pro? Can they be removed safely without leaving any holes or cutouts behind as in they are only being held by double sided tape?

Thanks!

That should be possible. Emblems like that are almost always just double taped onto the paint and you can use something like dental floss to cut under them. Then any tape residue can be removed with something like Goo Gone. All of that goes better on a hot day, which you should have in Texas.

Hopefully someone has already done this and can confirm, but I have not seen any emblems with mechanical fasteners in years.

Every decal is attached with double-sided tape or a type of glue. When I had my entire Trailhunter covered with PPF, the installers removed and then reinstalled every decal. Honestly, if I was thinking at the time, I would have had them reinstall all the Trailhunter decals but left off the other Hybrid engine stuff.

Yeah - when I had my PPF done I only let them put back the hood badges and left off the tailgate letters and hybrid stuff.

take your time , heat softens the adhesive
a hot day with the truck in the full sun & either dental floss or fishing line
use the line/floss to cut the adhesive between the badge & the paint job like a cheese slicer .
You can use a hair dryer but be very careful not over heat the paint job 🌋
Do Not use a heat gun you will melt 🥵the badge on to the truck , that's a bad thing

A hairdryer helps, even if you're outside on a hot day. Just make sure it's at least 68-72 degrees out and work the hair dryer 14"-18" from the truck. Slowly heat the area. Focus on the badge, but not only the badge. Large heat differences in a small area can cause the paint to crack. Too much heat can cause bubbling or peeling. The badge should be hot, like a perfect cup of coffee, hot but not scolding.

Use dental floss to work behind the badge as others said above. Yes, this is oddly satisfying, we won't judge you like my dental hygienist (I do floss Janet! Back off). Watch for sharp corners, the dental floss breaks easily, but it shouldn't scratch the paint. Just keep extra nearby. If you're like me, you have plenty sitting in the back of a drawer (Don't tell Janet). Take your time. If it gets too tough for the floss, give the dryer more time.

Goo Gone works great to get the residue off. Work it in small circles with a microfiber. Wipe the demon citrus residue off with a clean damp cloth or wash the truck.

Use a detailer spray to make it shine and protect the area. There's no wax under them badges.
