CarPlay sound level?

How do you adjust the volume when using CarPlay? I've noticed when my music is playing I don't always hear sound from when I get a text or Waze / map directions. I can adjust the music volume fine but not the other volume.

Ask Siri a question and adjust the volume while she's speaking. After iOS 17.1, Carplay has been acting weird and it seems that's the only way to fix it.
