I wanted to get the best possible price for my Tacoma—like we all do—so I waited until the end of November and reached out to three different Toyota dealerships (Avondale, Right, and Bell). My goal was to keep my monthly payment under $900, and the best trim I could afford was the SR5 with the smaller screen. The only upgrades included were a spray-in bed liner, off-road floor mats, underground color and 4x4.

In the end, I paid $43,800 out the door with a monthly payment of $807. The dealership claimed they took a $3,500 loss to make the deal happen.

My question is: Could I have gotten a TRD Off-Road or Sport with the bigger screen for the same price, or did I get a good deal on this SR5?

If I had a cookie for everytime a sales guy told me they took a hit to get me this deal, I'd be fat lol.

I assume you're probably talking in USD?

I have a 6M TRD Sport with the + package and my monthly payments are about 920 a month CAD. That was with a $12,000 down deposit on a 6% interest and 7 year term, but by the time I ate the little negative equity I had on my trade and added a couple extras like ceramic and 3M, I was pretty evened out to MSRP again.

What you paid for the options and trim you got seem right in like with the MSRP listed on Toyota.com which backs up my claim that they're full of 💩 about losing any money, but I wouldn't say you'd be able to get a sport of off-road for around the same. Just my opinion though, don't know how flexible dealers are now that there's a fair amount of stock for 4th gens, but they definitely weren't very flexible during release for obvious reasons lol.

You can't look back. I bought mine back in August of last year. There wasn't much inventory then but sales weren't great and I got a decent deal. Could I have made a better deal now, with slow sales and higher inventory, probably. Then again, I wouldn't get what I did on my trade now either. So who knows, but to keep your sanity, just enjoy what you have and move on....that's what I'm doing...

That's a great answer honestly, especially with the impending threat of tarrifs. Prices may absolutely skyrocket for these trucks yet, get in one while you can lol

Didn't even think of the tariff issue. Yah, I think it is going to get a bit weird.

I paid 43k for my SR5 4x4 longbed with upgrade/cold weather package. I could have bought a base sport or off road for slightly less.

unlike here in Canada, aren't there surpluses at most larger dealerships with 3-5K off?? Or merely clickbait YT doomsdayers?

You know how to tell if a salesman is lying

Their mouth is moving.
