Engine noise?

Greetings - love my Tacoma sport.
When letting off the gas, between 2000-1500 rpm’s get a far away whistle like sound. Reminds me of a diesel. Is this related to the turbo? Something else? As soon as I lightly touch the throttle it goes away. It follows the speed of the engine rpm. Don’t hear it at other rpm’s at the moment. New to turbos so was curious if that or something serious. I tried to record it but didn’t come out. Thanks all - great forum!

Yes more then likely the turbocharger

Yes, you can hear the turbo spool up and sometimes the pressure blow off. This is normal for a Turbo. Could also be exaggerated by the fake engine noise they pump into the cab. I used Calista to shut mine off almost as soon as I bought the truck, so I can't say for sure.

What’s the benefit of turning off the fake engine noise? It bothered you?
