Wanting real world opinions on finish type for a set of sliders. I ordered the Cali Raised step edition sliders and back and forth between having it printed and then painted a deep gray by local paint shop, dark gray powder coat by Custom Coatings here locally or black Linex. For anyone that has had slidersxon a Taco id appreciate the advice. I usually just have Westin chrome or Aamp auto running boards the last 8 yrs or so on vehicles. This is not an offload rig. It I need the protection of a slider ill be thankfully but I don't plan on using a 70k truck to off road hard in. Mountain rds or woods for hunting trips, game retrieval etc but no hard wheeling.

I have the step edition sliders with the powder coat finish, and it's nice. Cali Raised did a nice job with the powder coating, in my opinion. It has a nice grip to it, and it's relatively easy to keep clean. I can't speak on any of the other finishes though. These've been on my truck since July, and have held up really well. I ordered mine without the top plates, so it's just powder coated tube steel. They still provide a nice place to stand if you've got something on your roof, and they're great for getting in and out of the truck.

Im wanting the step edition so kids can get in back seat easier. I'd like the protection from rock chips being thrown onto the black paint as well. I'm thinking automotive grade printer and paint may be better option

Maybe… the powder coating seems to hold up just fine to gravel and mud, plus it gives decent grip for your boots. I drive a fair bit through job sites and on gravel roadways. Side note: the sliders also do a fair job of protecting your rear fenders from rock chips too. Are you ordering them in bare metal and then having them painted separately? I’d be really curious to see how they turn out if that’s the case. I think they’d look awesome with a high gloss black paint on them. Definitely share some pictures once you get em on your truck.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to order bare metal. I have a really good powder coat and paint company close to me. They do lots of 1 of or custom parts for race vehicles, off road rigs and can do a frame up to 24' in length. I think a dark grey will be subtle and look good on the all black truck. May even color match the cockpit red seats but that might be a bit much.

The color match LineX is also something that I've tossed around. My only issue or experiences with powder coat is with utility or construction trailers and I'm worried about it flaking off in sheets after a chip then good one midwest salt and freeze thaw winters. I dobt want $1500 sliders to be rusted up or look like hell in 2 yrs.

Good point. I feel fairly confident they’ll hold up, but only time will tell. We deal with salty roads here on the East coast too. Our roads wind up looking like Bonneville for a few months around here lol. I like the grey idea. I was thinking high gloss black cause of the fender flares on the Pro. I like the dark grey/black powder coat how it matches my matte black flares pretty closely. These sliders are beefy too. They’ve definitely got some heft to them.
