Front Grill Discoloration Issue

Hi All,

I noticed a rather odd issue with my grill the other day. I thought it was paint. However, this is a garage kept vehicle and I have not been near or around any spray paint at all. Upon a closer look i think it's some type of discoloration. Has anyone experienced this issue or have an idea as to what may have caused this?

Did wax or detail the pickup recently? Looks like it could be wax collecting in the low spots?

Nope. I have not waxed or had this detailed in anyway since I've owned it.

Yeah, that’s odd? Have you tried cleaning it? If it is fading definitely a bad grille, show the dealer.

I did try to clean it today with no positive results.

Yeah same issue here BUT on my rear passenger window trim both sides same spots . i posted a thread about it .

What did it end up being? Did Toyota do anything about it?

my pieces are small about 9" x 3" & seems easy to replace
Other than that my paint job is beautiful , i had some rail rust spotting but that came off with a damp micro fiber , slight pressure

@Slappy I also see the same thing on the side glass near that trim. Is it possible that something was sprayed on your truck at some point? I have no idea what that might be, but it seems strange that it also appears on the glass.

To me, in both instances, I'd say it's some sort of chemical from road spray that's reacting with the plastic and causing discoloration. Who knows what kinds of substances are leaking from the millions of vehicles that travel every day.

some new tacoma have had light orange/ rust colored spots on the paint jobs in the roof / hood areas . this was caused by toyota shipping the trucks by "open" rail cars & the trucks getting rained on during shipping .
Which the trucks were subjected to the spray off the rail cars & deposited a rust water onto the Tacoma's paint jobs
Now my rust spots came off easy . these spots on the plastic trim were Not there when I picked up my truck . these spots appear to be over spray but there is no way that is the case as some of the spots are under other pieces of the trim edges .

@Slappy I also see the same thing on the side glass near that trim. Is it possible that something was sprayed on your truck at some point? I have no idea what that might be, but it seems strange that it also appears on the glass.

that is pollen on the glass we get a heavy pollen drop every morning at this point every spring , my windshields is yellow with the stuff every spring from the local pear & plum trees that are planted all over town
