It seems a lot of people have talked about this issue where the miles left in a tank and therefore the gauge itself is not reading correctly. 260 or 280 miles made no sense to me since the truck is advertised to have a hundred more miles than that in terms of range.
So every time I get the fuel light, I go to fill up and learn I had 5 gallons left. This explains the missing 100 miles. I talked to the Toyota brand engagement, and they told me to get more people to call this issue in so they can see whatā€™s going on and get some type of software update to fix this reading.

If you have this issue call Toyota brand engagement and let them know šŸ˜¬

no... it's definitely a hybrid pro.

i typically don't let it get that low. wife drives it to work during the week. last tank was right at 15.03mpg LOL.

it only has 1100 miles on it so i'll chime back in in a bit but i don't expect it to get much better than my 22 trd pro, which got around 15-17 or so.

lmao i have never seen 260 miles to empty on a full tank. it's always like 220-230.
Good lord how bad is your mpg? I know my truck is lighter as a 2wd sr5 but I usually get 320+ till empty on a full tank. Just switched to premium this last tank and itā€™s been incredible the difference in mpg and fuel till ā€œemptyā€

That makes sense i get around the same depending on my high way use versus city. My mpg reading is right on with my division of miles and gallons filled. When the gauge gets to empty are finding that it fills up to 13 gallons?

Oh man that shifting issue must be frustrating. Is your vin number affected by the transmission tsb?

It is on the recall list. I also had it drained and flushed at 1000 miles including the engine oil. When I hit 6k I'll do the same maybe when they find chunks lol they might finally replace it? Lol.

Unless the dealer did it I would definitely not volunteer that information up front.

I have a TRD Sport Hybrid and my range has been showing 330-340. I've been filling up around the 330 mark, but it usually still shows 20-25 miles to empty on my range. My last tank was 346 miles and it took 15.36 gallons to fill it up with 21 miles left on the range.

I did the same with my 2020 and would always fill up around 20-25 miles to empty and it usually still had 2.5-3.0 gallons remaining. That's actually been pretty consistent with all my Tacomas and my wife's 4Runners. Never had the low fuel light come on with 5 gallons left though. That does seem odd.

Yeah, itā€™s been really odd! Iā€™ve had Tacomas and FJs before, but honestly, every car Iā€™ve ever had hasnā€™t been this far off fuel gauge-wise. Itā€™s so bizarre, and I feel like itā€™s a software issue perhaps? I know how fuel is measured on older cars, and I feel the mechanical aspect of it hasnā€™t really changed, so thatā€™s why I feel itā€™s just a software thing.
