Hey guys,

New member here, finally located a black TRD Sport with a 6ft bed I am about to reserve. I am curious if the OEM powersteps offered on the Limited models are able to be purchased and fitted on other models, like the TRD Sport? My girlfriend runs a body shop and could order these for me and have them installed at her job, but was just curious if the mounting points would be the same? Sucks that these are only offered on the Limited models.

You can just goto AMPREASEACH and buy one from them, its pretty much the same thing. I had this on my 3 gen tacoma before and that was what I installed and when I look underneath the truck its the same brand. Not to mention Ford uses Ampresearch power step as their factory oem part as well

Has anyone installed AMP Powersteps on a non-limited model? From what I've learned, Toyota worked with AMP to make these as OEM on Limited trucks, but were unavailable on other models. They are currently listed on RealTruck (where AMP sells their products) but have been unavailable for some time.

I was going to pull the trigger on RC power running boards but my trusted local installer said he's had a lot of trouble with RC quality over the years and doesn't want to deal with the issues they bring.

It's my understanding that AMP has a specific patent on their product that enables them to integrate with the truck's computer to deploy the steps, rather than needing magnets/sensors.

Does anyone have any insight on whether the AMP steps are the best option, or have long term experience with any other products? I'd love a set of power running boards on my Pro. Fiancé insists, lol.

Cheers!
