They were bigger diameter. But not by a ton.
I guess more for traction. Maybe a little more clearanvr. I went narrower for my snow tires for the same reason. Kept the same diameter though.
Noticed a difference in fuel consumption with the wider tires. Also a stiffer ride with the narrower tires.
