Decided to splurge a little today. Got some 33” Nitto Ridge Grapplers and predator steps today. Needed (wanted) a more aggressive looking tire. The steps are crazy easy to install. Even with the slightly added height of the 33” tires, the steps aren’t needed, but I think they add a nice look to the truck.

I expected to see a difference in the speedometer. So far I don’t see a change. With the Trail Terrains at highway speeds my speedo was always showing 2 mph faster than any gps app would show. With the 33s, still 2 mph difference. 🤷‍♂️

I like the tires, I think most people don't like the predator steps because they kind of don't line up with where you need to step. They also seem to get caught on things or banged up if you off road at all. Looks good though.

What size tires were those? They look great! Are they 285/70/17?

Yes they are.
Curious, I've seen varying opinions on whether to go with 285 or 275. I've mostly seen that, with the K03s people have said they feel heavy. Any feel of heaviness with these? Are they standard load or did you get the C1 or E1 version?

The wider tread, aggressive tread pattern and heavier weight of the Nitto 285 tire will negatively affect fuel mileage.

I got the SLs because I don't need tires for heavier loads. My fuel economy has taken a couple mpg hit. Besides that and a slight uptick in road noise, they don't feel heavier. My Rubicon 4XE I traded for my Tacoma had 37s and they destroyed the torque on that thing. Those tires were 79 pounds, plus the 40 pound wheels. Glad I never had to change a tire. LOL
