I had found that some of my passengers struggled to get into the truck. The problem being that can’t see the interior handle, and end up trying to push off the door or hold the seat back to get in. Even when I mentioned where the pillar hold is, they can’t visually see it.
The passenger door handle problem was mentioned by Saerandy in “Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels” was addressed by Gasgasman in “Grab handle solution.”
Gasgasman suggestion the aftermarket Jeep handle mounted to the pillar interior cover bolts. This provides a visible handle for physically or height challenged passengers.
The installation of the Rugged Ridge “Ultimate Grab Handles” is simple enough. Amazon sells them as a pair, but you only need one.
1. Use a plastic pry tool to remove the caps, and expose the bolts.
2. Use a Dremel tool to grind down only the retainer that interferes with the nylon strap and enough of the cap to get it to seat properly.
3. Buy M6-1.0 30mm screws to replace existing screws.
Gasgasman mentioned using glue to keep the cap on, but I found it seated well enough it stays put.
